Creating the audio for my animation was important. I wanted to capture the seriousness and importance of the topic at hand. However, later on in the video, I wanted to be able to create an array of layers that would add dimension and style that could lift the video up and feel powerful.

For my animation project, I wanted to capture the importance of how much media effects perception. The distorted, unrealistic expectations of body types and features seen in the media have negative impacts on young women and men. Cases like bulimia, anorexia, and many other eating disorders are caused by this type of media.  I think its important to remind people that true beauty is individual. That everyone is different and everyone is unique. Nobody looks like the models on the cover of magazines- not even the models- they've been photoshopped to fit unrealistic standards as well. So don't overthink it. Find your true beauty. https://youtu.be/cXSHDgS-vcA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXSHDgS-vcA&feature=youtu.be

This is my Autoscopy project. I channeled my broken heart from a previous relationship where I was in an unhealthy situation where I had been cheated on and told I didn't look good enough. My boyfriend had been cheating on me with a girl who resembled a VS model-so thats what I used in this image. That if only I had looked like her, maybe I would have been good enough for him. (oh well, his loss) The images are shown at 100, 75, 50, 25, and 0% compression.

SOMEWHERE PROJECT - PARIS Considering I have never been to Paris, I wanted to find a picture that matched the scare and light that I needed to make a realistic photo. The two I made depict lighting, shadows, and placement. The most difficult part of this project was the scaling. Being able to capture an image by photo, and match it to an image found online of a place you've never been is quite challenging. I wanted to create two different photos from different positions to allow multiple views of possibilities.

This project involved turning black and white images of ourselves into colored images using color palettes from adobe color. I wanted to choose color palettes that would compliment each other and look good against my skin and hair tones.

These are my two posters. Representing women empowerment- I wanted to create something that stood out and resonates with both women and men. Using pictures of myself, I wanted to capture an emotion that is usually hidden within- and masked on the outside.

My gradient mesh project was one of the most challenging. Being able to get every inch of the original picture replicated to a mesh duplicate was very frustrating. One of the elements that I worked the hardest on was my necklace, my hair, and my clothing strap. Showing the shades in color reflected in the mesh image took time, but turned out well.

Business cards- Updated and re-done While designing my business card logos, I wanted to portray the three things that define me. Patience, organization, and dance are the three most important aspects of my personality that make me who I am. During the creation of my business cards, I wanted to come off as both professional and creative. Building a design that was specific to each trait, yet appealing to the eye as well. The use of bright colors, simple designs, and creative layouts allowed me to achieve that goal.

This is my calligram. In remembrance of the lives lost in the parkland shooting, I wanted to portray an emotion through my piece. A look of concern, loss, and sympathy. Using the names of each life that was lost is what makes this project so hardening. It is a form of paying respects to each of the people that lost their life that day- as well as a way to pay respects to the friends, families, and community that were affected by the shooting as well.

FINAL PROJECT- SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS HOUSE PINEAPPLE - PNG Designing my canvas project took a lot of time. Mimicking the landscape from Spongebob Squarepants, I wanted to capture the truest form of the iconic pineapple. After many hours of editing, cleaning, adjusting and spacing, I was finally able to achieve the look I was going for. Using gradients, quadratic and linear curves, I was able to piece together each shape, layer upon layer, to finalize my canvas project.   /// BACKGROUND var myGradient1 = context.createLinearGradient(0,300,400,600); myGradient1.addColorStop(0, "rgba(104,255,202,1)"); myGradient1.addColorStop(0.5, "rgba(22,201,255,1)"); myGradient1.addColorStop(1, "rgba(9,121,232,1)"); context.beginPath(); context.rect(0,0,800,600); context.closePath(); context.fillStyle = myGradient1; context.fill(); //SAND var myGradient2 = context.createLinearGradient(0,400,0,600); myGradient2.addColorStop(0,

My name is Brooke Nakaerts. I am a Junior at UT graduating early in December 2018. I am a Communications major hoping to enter the world of Public Relations. When it comes to activities, I'm pretty basic. I'm a sucker for a nice day at the beach with people I love, however, I also love a good snow day. I am originally from Chicago yet spent most of my time at my lake house in Wisconsin- so snow is my friend just as much as sand. I am a very outgoing person and I get along well with others; but I still enjoy having time to myself. Peace and quiet has always been my virtue. My first impressions of FMX 210 were interesting to say the least. While there are no exams and no texts for the class I know it will be a lot of work. I have never worked with photoshop or any of the other tools that we will use in this class, but I am eager to learn. The skills learned in this class will help me a great deal when I get into the real world and am able to apply my knowledge in my career. I a
